What is a fanlisting?

Here's the definition from the official site:

"A fanlisting is simply an online list of fans of a subject (a TV show, actor, or musician) that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country." - TheFanlistings.Org

This fanlisting can be found under the Albums category.

What is 'The Cat Empire' and why did you choose it?

To begin with, The Cat Empire is made up of the following people:

Felix Riebl on vocals and percussion; Harry Angus on trumpet, vocals, and vocal percussion; Ollie McGill on Rhodes, piano, accordian, melodica, and Korg MS2000; Will Hull-Brown on drums; Ryan Monro on upright and downright bass; Jamshid Khadiwala 'Jumps on turntable and percussion.

The first time I heard a song by The Cat Empire was when 'Hello' was released as their debut single. At the beginning, I shrugged them off because I didn't much like the song (this was back in a time where I refused to listen to pop music for the sole reason that it was pop music) or the lyrics.

I'm not sure how long after that it was that I found out my sister had bought their album and was bugging me to listen to it. All I know is that I'll be eternally glad she did.

My fondest memory of listening to the CD was when my sister and I were in the dining room with the stereo playing 'The Wine Song' on full blast and I was spinning around on a swivel chair to the rhythm. Now, anyone who knows the song is aware that it gradually picks up speed, getting faster and faster all the time.

I think you can see where this heading. :P

What a rush! I'm sure if I'd tried to stand once the song stopped, I'd've gone straight through the glass sliding-door. XD

But anyway. Ahem. That's not the point! The point is that this album is absolutely stunning. I have a supremely strong attachment to The Cat Empire's music as I live in Melbourne, which is their home town, so I feel I can relate to their music in a way.

I feel a particularly strong connection to the song 'The Crowd,' because I know exactly what it's like to stand on a crowded tram in the summer, and to relax on the beach and watch the sun go down in St. Kilda. It's a beautiful thing, and the song portrays it to perfection. It's definitely one of my favourites from the album.

Enough of my prattling on, though. Here's the tracklisting:

1. How To Explain
2. Days Like These
3. The Lost Song
4. The Chariot
5. Hello
6. One Four Five
7. The Rhythm
8. The Wine Song
9. Nothing
10. Beanni
11. The Crowd
12. Manifesto
13. All That Talking

If you're looking for the lyrics to one of the songs, they can be found on the extras page, along with other little tidbits for each song on the album. :)
